Join our Team and Support Youth Volunteer Service in Philadelphia
Through its volunteer service projects, Youth Volunteer Corps addresses needs in our community, connects youth with a positive peer group, develops the skills of our volunteers, and improves the lives of those we serve.
Our program relies on your support. Every $50 we raise creates an opportunity for a Philadelphia youth to be involved in an entire year of YVC programming.
Join us in our goal of raising $15,000 during this year-end campaign so that 300 youth can participate in YVC in 2017.
Thank you for your support! Together, we are:
Connecting Youth. Improving Communities. Changing Lives.
2/2 "When I started going to the same high school as my sister, she started talking about YVC and I thought, "what the heck, I should just join". The first project we did was volunteering at a homeless shelter, where they help homeless people with food and shelter. That day it felt really great helping, so I continued going."

1/2 "I look up to my sisters. My first is my oldest sister, my half-sister. She was a like a second mom. My mom used to work late, come home late, and my oldest sister took care of us like we were her kids. I look up to my second oldest sister, too. When she was my age, she had good grades, wonderful friends, a job. My teachers say how wonderful and good she was. So I try to follow in her footsteps."
" I communicate more with people. Usually I'm shy and like to be alone. Because of YVC, I feel like I talk with more people, am more active and have more fun than usual."

1/2 "When I go to school and YVC, it's like home. When you have friends who like to do these projects and have a good mindset and who are there for you, it's definitely a good feeling of safety. We respect each other."
2/2 "My martial arts teacher is one of my role models. He taught me a lot of self discipline. He said that sometimes it's about using your words and your confident image to influence people to make better choices. I took martial arts because my Dad did when he was younger. He took it because he was bullied. He wants us to be able to defend ourselves so that we won't have to fight. Like my martial arts teacher said, just having the confidence of knowing how to protect yourself is enough to make sure you don't have to fight."

"YVC has definitely prepared me for my future. It's given me insight on how to not only look for service projects in my community, but it's made me think about other people more. It's made me think about how I can help to affect change in my community. It's provided me with the skills to do a service project and to collaborate with others in my community. It's taught me to look outside of myself and the sense of gratitude that comes from helping people is amazing. It's a wonderful and gratifying feeling--I absolutely love it."
